Best of the West Festival 2016
The countdown to Best of the West Festival 2016 at Inveraray Castle, Argyll has begun. It’s now just less than seven weeks until the end of season summation on 10th and 11th September, which showcases the premium food, drink, crafts and music Argyll and the West Coast of Scotland, have to offer.
Whether you're a gourmand who relishes in the intricacies of fine dining, or a regular foodie excited about tucking into Argyll's local food and regional specialities, you'll definitely enjoy the gastronomic offerings The Best of the West Festival showcases.
Loch Fyne Oysters will be among the award-winning Food from Argyll team which also embraces, Real Mackay Stovies, Inverawe Smokehouse, Bumble Puddings, Castle Tearoom, Visit Arran, Home Ground Coffee, JR Fine Foods and Winston Churchill Venison.
The festival promises to be a culinary melting pot of fine artisan produce and this year offers an even wider selection of stalls to excite your taste buds.
Whisky enthusiasts will enjoy the Loch Fyne Whiskies marquee displaying the wares of several West Coast distilleries including, Arran, Auchentoshan, Ben Nevis, Bowmore Bruichladdich, Glengoyne, Glengyle , Kilkerran,Isle of Mull Blended Whisky, Jura Lagavulin, Loch Fyne Whiskies, Loch Lomond, Oban, Springbank, Talisker, Tobermory and many more.
Fyne Ales and The George Hotel, Inveraray will be on hand with exceptionally satisfying craft beers, cocktails and all the habitual favourites.
Music lovers are in for a treat! The award winning Manran will top the bill on the Saturday. Manran have rocketed to the top of the Scottish music scene with their powerful combination of Gaelic/English songs underpinned by driving accordion, fiddle, flute and a backline of drum and bass. On the Sunday, the winners of the up and coming Artist of the Year at Trad Music Awards, The League of Highland Gentlemen will be taking over the man stage, along with many more amazingly talented music acts to see you through the weekend.
The region is well known for its crafts and the line-up will not disappoint. BOWFest has a number of exclusive stalls selling products you won't find on any high street. You'll find spectacular jewellery, furniture, enticing fashion and accessories stunningly crafted in glass, textiles as well as unique art and much more. Everything you see at BOWFest is individual and unique work of the exhibitors you'll meet.
Children’s activities are abundant and free of charge. The festival caters to both outdoor and indoor activities for the children, as the West Coast weather is exceptionally unpredictable. Climbing walls, bouncy castles, face painting, circus routines, and bungee trampolining is just a few of the many fun-filled kid’s activities available.
