Best of the West Festival 2014
The countdown to Best of the West Festival 2014 at InverarayCastle, Argyll has begun. It’s now just under four weeks until the end of season finale which showcases the finest food, drink, crafts and music Argyll and the West Coast of Scotland have to offer.
Loch Fyne Oysters will be among the award-winning Food from Argyll group which encompasses Winston Churchill Venison, Bumble Puddings, Home Ground Coffee, Fyne Ales and many more. The festival promises to be a culinary melting pot of fine artisan produce and this year offers an even wider selection of stalls to tantalise your taste buds.
Whisky fans will enjoy the Loch Fyne Whiskies marquee displaying the wares of several West Coast Distilleries including Oban, Springbank, Tobermory and Talisker.
Fyne Ales and The George Hotel, Inveraray will be on hand with thirst quenching craft beers, cocktails and all the usual favourites.
Music lovers are in for a treat! Renowned folk band Capercaillie is booked to headline on the Saturday and the multi award-winning folk-rock band Skerryvore on the Sunday. Over 70 musicians are due to participate in the festival ranging from pipe bands to Gaelic and featuring plenty of local talent.
The region is well known for its crafts and the line-up will not disappoint. Harris Tweed, Fine Art, Swarovski jewellery and other truly unique arts from contemporary to traditional will be available for purchase.
Children’s activities are abundant and free of charge. Archery, face-painting, laser blast and bungee trampolines are just a few of the available attractions devised to keep your children entertained. The festival organisers are also prepared for the temperamental Argyllshire weather and have ensured both indoor and outdoor activities are available.
Tickets are available from http://bowfest.co.uk/ and for the first time Best of the West has partnered with West Coast Motors to offer a joint festival/bus ticket. Buses depart from Oban, Dunoon and Glasgow and will stop at various points en-route.
