Spicy Prawns

These spicy shell-on prawns are messy but delicious – roll up your sleeves and serve with crusty bread to mop up the aromatic, garlicky sauce.

Shopping List

  • 20 large shell-on raw tiger prawns
  • 200g unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 3 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Tabasco sauce
  • Juice of half a lemon

Cooking Instructions

  1. Rinse prawns and drain.  Spread out in a shallow baking dish.
  2. Combine remaining ingredients in saucepan over low heat until butter is melted.  Pour over prawns.
  3. Marinate for several hours (or overnight), turning and basting several times.
  4. Heat a large frying pan or wok and tip in the prawns.  Cook over a high heat until the prawns turn pink.
  5. Serve in deep bowls with crusty bread.
